This painting shows a family ritual and the intimacy of care. In the painting my mother is feeding me while my aunt applies mehndi to my feet as part of the ceremony. The work preserves a moment in which affection and tradition comes together through silent actions. I painted the scene in oil, building the figures first and then developing the surrounding foliage and patterned ground. The enclosing branches turn the setting into a sheltered space of belonging together.
